A very novel question to be sure... to bad the politics and good-ole-boy network will probably always exist in most corporations. Of course, I'm speaking of American companies... things are much different in other countries. Take Japan for example, they demand performance improvements out of everyone all the time and reward effectively for achieving goals based solely on merit and teamwork. Sweden is another great example.. salary caps even for the largest most successful compnaies are the norm.. i.e. look at the Nokia CEO.

It sounds like to me that your getting the raw end of the deal. Seek a commision based job in sales. You get paid depending on how hard your willing to work. Construction also has piece work which means you get paid a certain amount for each house you complete your trade in.

based on performance, the people in China and Japan would be rich, they work hard and have allot of discipline. Most Americans just want and expect what they think they should have and not what they earn.
