Women are accepted and welcomed now. The problem is that to become a top level scientist, you must become a slave to science. You have to give up your evenings and weekends and live, eat, sleep, and breathe science. Few women are willing to live such unbalanced lives.
When will men become accepted and welcomed as day care workers and elementary teachers?

Hopefully one day, women will be treated as equals in all areas of life. Men should be seeing women as their equals now, and some do, but there is the large portion who have been around long enough to remember when women weren't allowed in sciences. The younger generation of scientists is more open, but the elder isn't as quick to new ideas, especially considering how slowly science sometimes moves. You could be stalled on one problem for years and then in one night have solved it. My guess is that's how it's going to be with women in science -- Men will wait as long as they can and then suddenly, seemingly overnight, women will be accepted as equals.
Here's hoping.

I think your question is out-dated. Go check some statistics on the gender of science graduates and the gender of graduates finding employment.
Science was a male dominated industry, but in 20 years it will be dominated by women. (the exception is physics and engineering related sciences just, I think, because guys like to see how fast things go where as most women would just laugh)

I don't think so, I have gone to school for electronics and it is two to three years later and I still can't get a job in the field that I like and did so well in.

Women should already be accepted in the field of Science, as they themselves are a very intregal part of Science itself.

If women stop ostrasizing themselves I think they would be respected a lot more (e.g. "girl power"). Many (not all) women also enjoy announcing they are women for some reason, which sets them apart.

I can see them being taken seriously ONLY if they (the govment and media) would stop this feminist/girl-power sh!t and making it a political thing about trying to outdo men.

Who cares what the men think? Just do your best scientific work and you will be respected.
