Hi. I'm a coin dealer in the Midwest. Your 1943 steel cent is neat and collectible, and will range in value from less than a dollar in well used condition (we sell average used ones for half a buck), to a maximum retail value of about $50 or so for an essentially perfect Uncirculated piece, and this value also varies depending on what mintmark the coin has (below the date). It will either have nothing (philadelphia), a D (Denver), or an S (San Francisco). The "S" coin is the scarcest of the three.

Keep your coin in some type of holder to protect it, and by all means don't try to clean or polish it; you'll ruin its value.

Hope this info helped.

Millions of steel pennies were minted during World War II. (The really rare find is a 1943 *copper* penny, because only a few hundred were minted.) Uncirculated cents have gone for as much as $62.00 recently on eBay; circulated coins vary in price as they vary in condition. If yours is that old and it's in pretty good condition, it's probably worth a few bucks.

From the red book in fine shape they average 30 cents unless it is perfect don't expect anything over a few bucks.
