You could freeze CO2 at -40C but not oxygen, which freezes and a far lower temperature, so if you had a mixture of just CO2 and O2 that would work.

If you are using air it will be a problem because air also contains a lot of water so you would freeze out both water and CO2 and since there is a lot more water in even dry air the ice you would collect would be mostly water ice.

You should be able to pre-filler out much of the water by using two cooling stages one set at about -30C that would capture most of the water and almost none of the CO2 and then the second stage at about -50C would capture mostly CO2.

The exact design of the cooling stages would be important for the experiment to actually work because if they are not designed well much of the water would just flow around the first cooling stage without ever touching it.

It's very hard to separate peptide bonds wich is what holds oxygen particles and carbon particles toghether. In fact we really have no reason to do it. Plants do it all the time it is called aerobic respiration which is how they breath out oxygen and take in carbon because it's the only thing it needs.

Pass mixture air through a spray of cool/cold methol-ethylamine. (Cold methol-ethylamine has an affinity for CO2). The methol-ethylamine will absorb and retain the CO2 leaving only the O2. Subsequent heating of the methol-ethylamine will release the CO2 (approx 250 degrees).

Or do you mean seperate Carbon from CO2.

Make a Tesla coil. When activated it will use electrical arcs and branches to create ozone (O3) thereby giving you oxygen, but maybe not in the diatomic form that you would prefer.

you will need...
1- tiny sapling oak or pine
1- shovel
1- garden hose with running water faucet

Use Shovel to dig a hole, close to 2' by 2' by 2'.
Insert sapling into hole, let sit and settle at the base of the hole.
Refill hole with displaced dirt.
Water sapling stem , the part above ground, for an hour.
(This allows the water to seep deep into the whole and make a good cement for the displaced dirt...once it dries)
Rewater sapling everyother or every three days until sapling looks healthy with bright color in leaves.
