Maybe it's just me, but in school we always spelled it "buisness" on the spellng tests and then one year the teacher said, "Nope, we're gonna do it like this now." And ever since then it was just "business" which I always thought looked really stupid. Anyone one else remember spelling it that way?

Nope, as long as I can remember it's only been spelled one way business. Maybe your teacher was just messing with you.

No. It has been spelled business ever since I was a kid and that was a very long time ago.

No, for me it's buisness that looks "stupid", I remember being taught that business came from busy-ness...if you work for a business, then you are in the state of (ness) being busy.

I'm a copy editor and a lover of etymology. The word comes from Middle English: businesse...sorry.
