LOL Because we've been through everything you've already gone through, plus a lot more... Time brings wisdom, therefore making us appear as "retards" to the young... One day, a number of years from now, you'll be one of us and your son or daughter will be asking the same thing!

If you're asking for people on this site to offer you possible responses to that question, it's an easy assumption that you are a fairly young parent, and your daughter is a first and only child. My suggestion is that parents are such retards simply because she's 12. It may not be true for you, but I, and a lot of people I know, were convenced that our parents were hopeless dopes from the time we were 12 or 13 right on up through HS. It's amazing how smart they got, almost over night, when I got to be 22 or 23 with a wife and child of my own.

12 is getting to the age where parents are less fun and more of an embarasment. (If you think hard enough you will remember feeling the same way). This is when you need to start giving her more responsibility and let her know you trust her to know right from wrong and to do the right thing. Back off a little and let her come to you when she needs your help. Let her know your door is always open if she neesa help with anything. Let her be independent and figure out who she wants to be. It's time to let her start growing up.

Teens, you know? Who understands them? And because I'm a teen and thought the same about my parents maybe I can help you. Teens just have this thing that is not new to anyone, they just love to criticize. You gotta take it easy, don't pay attention, she's just saying that to annoy you. If you still don't feel comfortable, maybe you should explain her that everybody's different and that you are not retards, just have different points of views and differents tastes. If she doesn't understand you, well, live her in her puberty, it'll get over her.

she sees the majority of parents and the state of the world. most parents don't know much about their kids. the kids feel alone and they take it out on the people who brought them into it. as she begins to see more she'll question more. the world and facts leave people feeling helpless and even humbled by the fact that they cannot find indentity. she'll need time, she'll need help but you be there and make sure she doesn't get into trouble. put her into some activities maybe even christian if she'll have anything to do with it. you try to make good calls and be there when she falls. you go mom keep caring for her. my mom hardly understood me and it made me want to rebel don't go overboard but be open with her. she wants love everyone wants love.

Your parents are retards likely because you are entering a phase of life where establishing an independent identity is formost on your mind and the minds of your peers.

Tell her to pay very close attention to the fact that 'the older she gets the smarter the parents get", and the closer to being a parent she gets. A PEACH

i think it's kind of rude for your 12-year-old to call parents "such retards". you do know that she's also calling you a retard, right? well, i think it's pretty rude to call her elders that. i'm southeast asian. we're taught not to say stuff like that to our elders. it's a great offense.
