Some people play what's call HOYLE. Not sure what that stands for, but they keep calling trump because they say on average, you win more than you lose.
There are others who call on crap and then blame their partner for not helping.
You will also notice that there are opponents who call if you have 6 pts because they reason that yahoo will give you or your partner a loner hand.
Finally, there are players who just suck.
Hope this helps.

I think it's just frustrating as heck. I used to play euchre (in person) with someone who would 'call it up' on just about anything. We always said you should 'count on your partner for one' (trick) but expecting them to carry the entire hand is very risky. However, I am always amazed at how some of these people pull it off. I'm sure there is some skill involved in the order the cards are played to draw out trump.

I was so excited when I found Yahoo euchre but got really tired of dealing with people's attitudes, the yahoo ratings, people apparently cheating that I gave up on it. I actually had a time where the partners were on computers right next to each other so they knew exactly what the other person had each hand. That's a great way to raise your rating!
