If you think that you may be infected with W32/Sober@MM!M681, and are unsure how to check your system, you may download the Stinger tool to scan your system and remove the virus if present. This is not required for McAfee users as McAfee products are capable of detecting and removing the virus with the latest update. (see the removal instructions below for more information).

Note: Receiving an email alert stating that the virus came from your email address is not an indication that you are infected as the virus often forges the from address.

Sounds like it could be the fan inside the power supply has stopped working, or the the vents are clogged with dust. If the power supply does not have good airflow, it overheats and shuts down. Try blowing out the power supply vents, and look to see if the fan is spinning when it is turned on. A new power supply can be gotten at any computer store for short money.

Is the machine turning off or rebooting, I think the W32/IRCbot.worm reboots the computer. There are removal instructions at the following site

It might be your fan inside the computer. It might be over heating? Get your manual and find out how to put in it safe mode and maybe backup. Make copies of all your files first! You might have to reload everything into your computer again. Make sure you have all of your original software. Find a good virus software and Get it cleaned out. I've taken mine down to a local flea market where some computer whiz kids work after my son downloaded a bunch of junk with viruses. It took them a couple of hours but they cleaned it out and reloaded it and it only cost me about 25 bucks.

You probably do have a virus. You can install an antivirus program and run it. Check out the antivirus list of vendors at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=49500.
