for the past few months i'have been debating on if i should purchase an mp3 player through eBay. i understand that they have been used, but are they worth the price? i dont want to pay for something that has a virus on it or doesn't work right. if any1 has bought an mp3 or ipod through eBay or any other service like that , let me know what your experience(s) were like. the same question also apllies to digital cameras as well.

Buying an mp3 player from Ebay can be fun. Sometimes they even come with music on them, though it's probably not the music you'd like.

When buying on Ebay, either buy a player that is advertised as brand new, or else buy a player that takes standard AA or AAA batteries.

The battery is usually the first thing to go on a mp3 player, so if you're buying one with an internal rechargeable battery (IPOD) then add in the cost to replace the battery when you buy a used one. The same thing goes for laptops.

When buying new stuff on Ebay, I've had very few problems as long as I order from a seller with a very high rating (>99%). I've bought digital cameras, and other big ticket stuff. You only run into trouble when you deal with the low rent types.

Yes. I bought a Sony NW-HD1 20 gig mp3 player for $113 shipped. It came with the box, and everything else it came with new. It has a better look than the ipod, and plays in mp3, ogg vorbis, and the best compression format for portable music in a lot of people's opinion; Atrac3 lossless. Good deal, better player great price.

The things to check are:

Read the ad for the item throughly. KNOW what you are getting and the condition it is in.

Read the seller's feedback. Make sure there is not an excessive amount of negatives.

If these 2 things check out okay, you should be fine.

If you're looking for a discounted iPod, Apple has a refurbished(sp?) site in their store, and the models come with 1 yr. warrenties just like new models. Check into it!
