how many bottoms are there for every top in gay relationships?

i'm doing a piece on sexual politics in the gay community and would like some information on the number of bottoms to the number of tops in the gay community.

It is different in every city I have been in, but most can switch hit. That being the case it is usually pretty even

My findings: East Coast, more bottoms than tops
West Coast, more tops than bottoms (so they claim)
Mid WEst...who cares!
South Beach: All bottoms...tops are very popular on South Beach..take if from me.

Funny thing about all this that I have noticed: On the East Coast, bottoms talk about each other as if Bottom is a dirty word! They just have nothing nice to say about other bottoms, and certainly have little respect for the position, yet many more bottoms than tops.
West Coast: Bottoms are valued as a great sex partner, no ill feelings about the position
South Beach: Everyone is very open as to what they want, but everyone already knows what everyone wants...I really like visiting South Beach...best muscle hunk bottoms in the land.

Yup it has a lot to do with location .. Kentucky has more tops, Indiana more bottoms, St. Petersburg FL has a good mix .. it also will change from one club to another .. preppy S&M bars tend to be more bottoms and submissive, Levi/Leather more aggressive whether top or bottom, drag bars have more tops ..

After what the other guy said I'm booking a flight for South Beach tonight :)

This is why LGBT have such a hard time in the community, what kind of got damn research is that? Why don't you try to research the number of people who are bias!
If this is a topic for research, GET A REAL research project, because anyone in their right mind will know if you ask this to any Gay man they will look at you like a damn fool. That's private and its between the couples or people having a relationship.

that's really hard to say, because there are many men who claim to be one or the other and when you get them into the bedroom, you find out they are really aren't what they claimed to be.
then there is also the varible of guys who are versatile-prefer one, but could do both positions. and that's not including bisexual men, or married men on the "down low".
and then again there is also locations. for example, some people say that the city of Atlanta is the "bottom capital of the world", now whether that is true or not is debatable, but it does seem at least when checking out personal ads and such that some cities do tend to have one over the other.
then you also have the variable of how many tops have sexual relations with how many bottoms. of course men are men, and gay, straight or bi, we are going to lie about how many people we've been with.
sorry that i couldn't give you exact numbers, regrettably sex isn't like math, 1+1 doesn't always equal 2.

Its best to go to a bar or a club with openly gay men. Then ask politely, and do about maybe 3 case studies. Personally on a random guess I would say on a ratio of 8 bottoms : 1tops. Maybe its similar to the female ratio and how we outnumber men?

Um, you need to specify the question and try again, truth be told. "Gay community" = gay-identified males? (As opposed to men who have sex with men). So far as I know, there havne't really been studies / surveys on this; perhaps you could do your own: either finding a fair way to sample your local gay community, or by asking about personal preference of individuals here.

That's an incredibly difficult question. Alot of people are versatile and can go either way. If I had to guess I would say there are about as many tops as bottoms, maybe more -- but I'm not sure.
