It really depends on your career. If you're looking to have a job that requires a lot of technical stuff... spreadsheets etc, it doesn't hurt to have it on your resume. If you're going out for something like a staff assistant or an admin assistant, it's definitely a feather in your cap.

If you are working for a company that sells Microsoft products or deals with installation and training, that one can be important. If you are working for a company where you just use MS Office as part of your job, it probably won't do much for you.
Companies DO look at certifications, but not for every position.

The truth is, any type of certification will add to the total value of "you" but none of them will make or break the deal. If you have a chance to get one, by all means, get it. If you are thinking it will open new doors for you, you'll probablly be dissapointed.

Depends on what field of work you do. It some areas, yes it's very important. You need to decide if it's important in your career aspirations to decide if it's worth the money.
