the very BEST thing to feed a baby turtle is earthworms,
just one at a time, it's their natural food and the movement of the worm is what entices them when it gets a little larger you can start feeding pet shop food and larger bugs and flys painted turtles also like aquatic vegetation if you don't have access to aquarium plants, try using leaf or romaine lettuce (don't use
iceburg lettuce it has no nutritional value) Be sure to keep water clean Good Luck

Make sure it has mid 80's degree water, and it's clean. Aquatic turtles must be in water to swallow. Fresh or thawed unbreaded popcorn shrimp is what I use on the stubborn ones that won't eat.

go to www.turtlesale.com and get some hatchling turtle food. Our painter loves it. It's inexpensive, and will last a long time. When turtles are little they are carnivorous. When they grow up their diet is mostly vegetable. If he still won't eat, take him to a vet.

Have you just gotten him...or has it all of a sudden become a problem? Sometimes it just takes a little while for them to get settled in their new home. Other times there may be something wrong health wise. I would take him to a herp vet.
