I work at a 20 person IT consulting company, doing marketing, sales, and management duties. Our solutions are based on information and communication needs of businesses - network implementation and management, disaster planning and recovery, telephone systems, web and application development. We are a best cost provider, meaning that we are more experienced, provide better response times, have a wider array of services, and charge a rate that is in-line with other companies in our industry/market.

Our geographic region is known as Delmarva - the Eastern shore of Maryland and Virginia, and Delaware. Because this region is somewhat rural, we deal with small businesses (almost all are under 100 people). There isn't a lot of opportunity for larger organizations, but we are in a few.

Because of the ruralness and smaller size of our customers compared to a large metro area, we tend to be a little less formal than a large company servicing large clients for millions of dollars each. We're the largest company of our kind for the markets that we're in (we don't go into Dover), but still a small business. Because of this, I get to wear a lot of hats and fulfill many roles. This makes me more of a "generalist" in the business world, which I like a lot. It keeps me on my toes and if I get bored with something, I can always shift my focus to something that is more interesting to me at the time. I've held "specialist" as a part of my job title before, and once I learned my job I became very bored.

This is a great position for me, because I'm young and have an opportunity to gain a lot of business knowledge. I am constantly networking, meeting new people, representing my company in local chambers of commerce, etc. I have the support of my company to work on community service projects as a part of the Jaycees. I meet business owners every day, and my ideas have a positive impact on their business operations and profitability. I really like working at a small company because there's a lot less ego and bureaucracy to deal with. Positive change is recognized immediately and I have a chance to make a very visible, highly significant impact upon my work place every day.

I'm an administrative assistant for the service department of a company that sells and repairs medical equipment. There are parts of my job that I truly enjoy but other parts are awful. I enjoy the people I work with and even the paperwork and other duties that come with the position but the leadership here lacks people skills and anger management skills and I hate listening to them yell and throw things and talk down to the employees. Its a very small company and for this reason its a downfall because there is not any upper management or HR to report it to.

Worked 33 years for Tree Top at the Cashmere, WA plant. It is located in the middle of the state, an area which produces many hundreds of tons of apples, pears and cherries each year. I'm now retired ...and yes I enjoyed most of work experience there.

I'm a postal worker. I am a clerk in a small post office in a small rural community. Since our office is in such a small community, it is a central and integral part of the area. I'm able to greet many of my customers by name, and I know they value the service that is provided to them when they come into our office. While I wish I were independently wealthy and didn't have to work for a living, since that's not the case, and since I do have to work, I would have to say that I do enjoy most aspects of my job. I feel blessed to have a job like mine.

I would prefer writing or oil painting for a living.

So far, haven't found that right connection to get me where I want to be.

I have a decent job, however...but I would be a great contribution to society if I were free to do what I do best with my mind and hands.

I am a production assistant for NBC. I like it because it is a really laid back work enviroment. When you finish your work there is lots of time to sit around so I bring other suff to do (book, homework, yahoo!answers) and it doesn't even feel like work.
