I find that the old folks are the worst as they think that it's their God given right. They should understand that if you show a good deed or do one, you will be rewarded with one or acknowledge with a good word. They behave that way because they feel the whole world is against them. I always feel that good begets good and evil begets evil. With fear come anger then it leads to hate, then you progress to the evil side. It's happening around us but we fail to see the evil in man. If only all human kind are tolerant. then we can live in a beautiful world.

As a Californian, I have no perspective on Singaporeans. Your world view is probably different from mine as I have never met a single person from Singapore.

I also think it is unfair and ignorant to classify a whole city of inhabitants by the actions of the few you have met (or the many, whichever the case may be). From what I know about the city, there are millions of inhabitants. If I am to believe your perception, then I would have labeled millions of people as selfish. I cannot do that.

I have found that old people in every society are a bit more reserved and close-minded, but again, there are many exceptions.

I hope you find a Singaporean that you like one day.

i've had singaporean friends in the past. but i didn't find them selfish. on the contrary, they're quite pleasant. i've lived in singapore for 2 years. nobody acted stand-offish to me. so, sorry. i don't really agree with your statement. =)

They are just not so verbal and expressive... and so appear cold and selfish. It's tradition.
