It's all a pissing match. the problem is we Americans want to be the strongest nation (the alfa males of the world). but there will always be another man that wants to show that he's a big strong man too (Korea). so here we are in a pissing match.
the thing that scares me is that when one guy knows he could do just as much damage or more to the other guy, that man will usually go balls out. we have so much more to lose then Korea so if this escalates then we have the potential to suffer more, even if we both will be losing this fight over our egos.
i understand i should support America, and i do as an American. but at the same time no one like to be told what they can and can't do or what they can and can not have. the leader of Korea may think in his own head that he is in his right. that's kinda scary too.

Diplomats give him some credit for intelligence, but his only assets are his mlitary and China. He can't feed his country, has no economy and no friends other than China. If Chine didn't support him, he would eventually be overthrown.
So long as China continues that support, he can make as much noise and threats as he chooses. I believe the US is satisfied with diplomacy (to this point) because his technology is extremely suspect.
My guess is that he will continue posturing until he eventually gets negotiations with major powers in hopes of getting financial support and/or food for his country.

Dictator Kim and the North Korean government have been systematically and effectively starving out their enemy and their own people. So, yes, I would say something is amiss in that country.
Now, he's giving ultimatums to Bush. Like Bush can even spell "Nuke".

No, he's a paranoid psychopath hellbent on protecting his country against imagined threats, and intent on convincing his people that it's the right thing to do.

It appears that way. I think mostly he wants to take America with him. Finding ways to bomb the US is more important than feeding the people of his country.
