I tried to get a work published and an internet publisher said it was great and they were interested. Then, they wanted money to create a web site for me and to publicize my work. I quit. Not many publishers will even look at unsolicited manuscripts from unknown people. Just keep trying.

1).Find a publisher who will accept it, or
2) find an agent to take it to the publishers for you (more likely),
3) hire a vanity publisher to print it for you,
4) Turn it into an e-book and use a marketer or market it yourself.

As for a publisher, these days you'll need an agent to contact one (#2) because publishers are buried with submissions.

We do #4 for authors if you are interested.

try and finding a cheap publishing company that does good publishings? Plus take to an editor and they will judge if its publishible material.

P.S. Tell when the book comes out

First, mail your story to yourself and leave the envelope unopened.
Second, copyright your story.
Then send your manuscript to publishing companies that can market your genre.
Or...you can send it to theaters across the country. Look on line for sites like "We don't need no stinkin' dramas", etc.
You can also self-publish, which can be found on line, but I think that is a lame idea and looks hokey.
Good luck.

I reccomend finding an agent who will help you get publishers to look at it. Also, consider doing (at least) five more revisions, since I'm editing my story for about the twentieth time!

start small. try having chapters published in magazines or anthologies first, to cover good ground and to know if people pick it up. if your writing gets good word-of-mouth and/or a nod from other people, your story will have good credentials on the way to an editor's/publisher's desk.

Make sure you have a good realiable record of the story - as someone said, send it to yourself and keep it sealed - and then send it to reliable agents in New York or on the West coast.
