Hey. You can purchase either McCaffe Anti-Virus or Norton Anti-Virus. Do you know what virus or viruses you have in particular? I am very experienced with computers and with more information I can be a better help.
What operating system are you running?
Microsoft offers a new Beta Service, Windows Live OneCare. It has virus, spyware, malware protection built into one piece of software. Very effective.
If you do not feel like spending cash, you can go to www.download.com, search for Ad-Aware, and download the free version. Once downloaded, be sure to press the Update Definitions button, and then proceed to do a full system scan. This will take care of spyware problems you may have on your computer.

Alright, you have a few choices.
1) Bring your computer to a local tech to do a total reset of the computer
2) If you do not have it already, buy a firewall such as NORTON-ANTIVIRUS. If you do, update the firewall and do a full virus scan. DELETE ALL THREATS! (Obviously). Restart the computer.
3) If number 2 does not work, try downloading Ad-Aware SE Personal and/or Spybot. Those are the 2 best anti-spyware computer software. Run them both and do a full system scan, delete everything they find. Restart the computer.
4) If number 2 or 3 do not work, try to find the file manually, if you know your computer well, and have an idea what the virus came from and name may be, try a computer search for the file and manually delete it, then find the process in msconfig. To get to msconfig, go to start menu, run, type in ms config, check startup and services for your evil little virus name. If you find it, uncheck it and restart the computer.
5) IF ALL ELSE FAILS, CHECK OTHER PEOPLE'S SUGGESTIONS OR DO NUMBER 1.

First of all is that you don't have to buy any program to get rid of it. There are many free programs that work as good and better than the ones you buy.
Since you apparently do not have any protection, I recommend you go here and do an online scan. Malware will usually prevent you from downloading and using AV/AS programs. They can't stop the Online scan programs.
First, go to Java and download the latest Update 7 version. The older versions allow Malware infections. After downloading, remove all other version through ADD/Remove Programs.
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie.jsp
Next, go here and run the Full online scan and remove all that it finds:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
If it finds the Virus then write down the name of it. Keep it accurate, just as listed by the program. Do not alter it in any way. If housecall cannot remove it then go to this site and post a new thread with the name of the Virus and what you have already done. Watch for answers from onemjc, jibberjabber, rattler243. Do not pay attention to the shotgun approach of listing lots of different programs to run.

How do you know you have a virus if you don't have an antivirus software installed. I mean how do you know it is not just spyware.
Get AVG free anti-virus but also try another one as some find viruses the other doesn't.
Get spybot or ewido to check for spyware and keyloggers. I personally use both but ewido seems to find more.
Spybot is free although they ask for a donation if you want.

If you are running XP, Restore to at least a week ago, delete all cookies and temp files, then get a virus program before you go on-line again.

No need to buy!!

These three programs can delete up to 90% of the viruses you get on your pc nowadays. If you purchase anything, make it a personal FIREWALL, to keep hackers out of your system. After you download the above programs RUN them at least once per week. Do you have the recovery files for your computer? You may need to start from scratch.
DAMN THOSE EVIL HACKERS!!!!! DAMN EM TO HE##.

I'd like to second (or third) the recommendation of AVG Free. Excellent software. And while we're at it...
DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO POSTS A LINK TO A CLICKBANK PAGE! They're spammers who are getting a commission for every piece of software that you buy from that link. "What's that, you say? Buy? They said it was free software!" Well, they're lying. The programs they're spamming for have very shady histories and generate tons of false positives to scare you. Then, the software refuses to fix all of the "problems" you have unless you register (pay for, that is) it. I have tested the software they're spamming for on a clean install of Windows and both programs reported hundreds of problems that *don't exist*. They're spammers, they're liars, and they don't deserve your money or attention.

There are numbers of thousands Adware/Spyware/Trojans that are infecting innocent Internet users such as yourself through downloadable games, music, screensavers, pictures, pop-ups, and the list goes on and on. Spyware and Adware can cause your PC to run extremely slow and even crash, and allow hackers and advertising companies to invade your privacy whenever they wish.
It is always better to have a software that can protect your computer and you. Adware/Spyware/Trojans are more dangerous, coz of the simple reason that they steal your information. Your banking account password is much more worthy to them than your computer.
