It could be race or religion or political views, nothing ticks me off more than seeing people generalize an entire group of people on here. How ignorant! I know that this is not everyone but for those of you out there, start thinking for yourself and looking at the person, not whatever community they may be a member of.

I guess I wanted to be a little bit more specific on this after reading a few of the responses. I understand that some generalizations are not harmful, I'm talking about any statement that incites a blind hatred for a group of people based on ignorance and fear of someone or something that they don't understand, worse off, they think they do! I'm so sick of people saying, "Why are men all evil? or Why are all hispanic people Christians?" It is to these people that I direct my anger.

I couldn't agree more. But still majority of people in this world based their narrow views on prejudice thinking.

People have to generalize, and stereotype. It's not always a bad thing, but that's the only way some people know how to be. Most people find they have to group things in order to understand them, or to have some type of order in which things are supposed to go in their mind.
Typical stereotypes such as:
All gay men act feminine
All lesbians act like men
All black people have attitudes and are loud
All white people are racists.
I don't believe in these stereotypes. Does that mean people aren't like that? No, not at all. YES there are gay men who act like women. YES there are lesbians who are very masculine in appearance and demeaner, YES some black people are loud and some do have attitudes and YES some white people are racists. But the few do not speak for all.
You'll find that most people do it without even realizing it, too. Somebody will see a black couple arguing and *some* people automatically think "Oh, why are black people so ghetto?" I know, I've done it, but all in good fun. I have a white best friend who cracks stereo-jokes about what we call 'her people' and I do the same.
Or someone might see a young woman dressed in baggy clothes, and think "She must be gay."
Another perfect example is, and I have to say it, for the few religious bigots out there who make it bad for the really good ones out there, the minute someone opens their mouth and says "Yes, I am a Christian" Or whatever their religion might be, some people automatically assume that they are bigoted, ignorant, and are going to try and push their religion over. It's a common misconception, and mostly out of wariness or fear.
Most people do it, and my theory is because most people, as a whole, find a need to categorize, or group, people because it makes sense to them. I have a dislike of cops because of a few bad experiences, so now I'm wary of cops as a whole. I realize that all cops aren't bad, but that doesn't change the fact that I avoid them like the plague. That doesn't mean everybody who does it is a bad person, or even means to do it. If you think hard enough, I'll bet there was a time or two you might have made a generalization about someone, and put them in a group you thought they belonged in. Again, it isn't a bad thing, it's just the same some peoples minds work.

That is a very good point and I agree. However, it is human nature to stereotype people as it helps our brains to make some sort of sense of the world. We all have our own internal stereotypes formed by our own experiences in our lives and these can hinder us by reducing the variation of different cultures we experience but also can help us to stay safe. For example, many people would say that tramps are on the whole dirty, begging, smelly, drunk and dangerous and would cross over the road to avoid passing close by one. Most of the time, the tramp wouldn't do anything at all but there is also that one time, when the tramp could be drunk and want to take out his foul mood on someone passing by. This is quite an extreme example, I know and on the whole, I do agree with you about the mass generalisation of the traits of certain peoples as rather ignorant. I just wanted to point out that certain people may occasionally benefit from their internal ideas of stereotypical behaviours.

Nah. i'm extra ill of the naysayers. they ought to easily leave the board and discover another inquiries to respond to. If the "volatile" questions weren't requested, it will be too uninteresting around the following and also you doesn't have the ability to waste 10 factors asking questions like the only you in simple terms requested.

that is true but sometimes you just notice a trend among some folks so you have no other reason but to say this is how things are amongst them.
