Where can I find the average yearly interest earned on savings accounts for each year from 1970 to 2006?

I need this information for personal passbook or statement savings accounts. I'm looking for the national averages, not averages per each banking institution. I don't know where else to look. Anybody know?

I saw something with an offer I got today, they said under 2 %
nationwide, offer I got was 5 % which is still nothing to do with your money.
