In the past it has been stated if you have one drop of black blood you are considered black ....however I think the country is over that now as everyone would be black....what do you feel you are? you can see yourself. There is a word for that coloring and its not the slang "oreo" it is a very pretty word starts with an M I think..I will tell you one thing I am white and the mix of white and black is the preferred coloring of each race its beautiful.

I'm Mixed and this posed a problem for me as well. I usually checked Black early on, but now I recommend that you check BOTH boxes (Black and White). Maybe even write mixed if there's a space.

I would not pick any box. It is time that we as a society stop putting people into categories. My children are mixed and I refuse to check one box or the other, they are both!

When my daughter was born in 1980 (she is mixed) I was filling out her birth certificate and you were only allowed to check off white or black. (I checked off both) You would think after all this time and the world being so diversed, they would change. I think my daughter, checks off black when she is asked her race because she is dark. It has to be your preferance and you have to feel good about your decison. Good luck

I heard somewhere that you're supposed to check the minority box. In your case, it would be black. I'm not sure, though. My friend who's mixed just like you checked black.

Is your father black or white? By my tradition at home, we follow the father. Don't know if it works like that too in the States. I'm also a mixture of two ethnic groups (not race), but I follow my father's ethnicity.

I would say put black just remember your not white and white people will tell you in a hot second your not white no matter how much white blood you got in you.

Make them start thinking outside the box and check other! It is about time we get rid of race classifications.

You are never forced to disclose you race with any potential employers. I personally don't check any of the boxes. I just leave it blank.
