She will want to eat more protein, about 70-90 g per day. She will also want to drink about a quart of milk a day, or consume that much in other dairy, like cheese, etc. Also, lots of fruits and veggies, grains, and fats- yes, fats! Butter and vegetable oils, mostly, are okay.

As far as spicy foods, your friend may eat them so long as they don't cause her any problems like heartburn, which they may in later pregnancy due to the uterus pressing up against the stomach.

Sodas and other caffeinated beverages are discouraged because they usually cause dehydration. She'll want to increase her water intake, especially if she chooses to drink a soda here and there.

Salt foods to taste. Hope this helps!

She should get a good pregnancy book like "what to expect when your expecting". This will explain what a good pregnancy diet looks like and what things she will need to avoid. There are a lot of different things that she should not eat and some that she can only eat small amounts of. For instance she should avoid soft cheeses like brie and feta, and should only eat deli meat or hot dogs if they have been heated up. There are lots of fish that she should stay away from because of the mercury content. Some foods, like caffeine are debatable and a pregnancy book can explain why.

Soda isn't horrible, but she should limit herself to once a day because of the caffeine and sugar in it. It's just empty calories, and right now she needs to be drinking and eating nutritious things (milk, water, orange juice, etc.) I've never heard that it causes miscarriages... Spicy stuff is fine too. Just tell her to watch out, because it could cause her to have heartburn.

What I want to know is how long did it take you to type that message with alternating caps and lower case letters? Jeez...

She should not eat tuna because of the mercury. She should stay away from a lot of salty foods such as chips and alike, as it will make her bloat and have high blood pressure. Too much sugar in ones diet can lead to diabeties, and she should limit herself. She should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, as they offer a lot of natural sugars, vitamins and nutrients. Eat foods that have a decent amount of protein in them such as peanut butter, eggs, chicken and turkey etc. She should also have calcium like milk, cheese and yogurt etc.She should also be taking her prenatal vitamins! That way if she's missing all the good things her body should have during pregnancy, at least her vitamin can help make up for some of those loses. Also, stay active and fit, it will help with the delivery of the baby.

Well you definitely dont want to drink alot of caffeine, its not good for the baby. Try caffeine free sodas. Spicy things are fine. The main things to stay away from are soft cheeses and fish with high amounts of mercury. Also stay away from artificial sweetners and flavoring. And raw food such as sushi.

I ate everything and anything I wanted during my pregnancy. Ok so spicy food created a little gas problem but I never stopped eating things I loved and had a perfectly healthy 6lb 12 1/4 oz = 24 inches long baby boy. (yes, he was actually 24 inches long, dad was over 6foot 3 lol)

You really don't have to worry as much as people say you do. People harped on me for eating everything from peanut butter and jelly to fried foods to American cheese. Try to be healthy, but don't kill yourself trying to only eat certain things. She can have soda, but I recommend she does so in moderation because (a) caffeine isn't good for her growing baby and (b) carbonated beverages can give you killer heartburn especially when you're pregnant.

Steer clear of too much tuna, no alcohol, and easy on the processed foods. Other than that, stick to a balanced diet, and she'll be fine.

she can have some caffeine just limit it. Spicy food may give her heart burn but will not hurt the baby. Stay away from alcohol unless the DR says you need to drink one glass of wine to cut down on toxemia. She can eat anything she wants. Cravings just mean that her body needs certain nutrients! I wish her the best of luck!

Caffine is bad, but sprite and such that doesn't have caffine should be ok! I guzzle ginger ale, helps with morning sickness!
She should also stay away from lunch meats and tuna! Or any other deep sea fish! They contain mercury!
