My three are the following:

1. God Only Knows - Beach Boys: called by Paul McCartney as the most beautiful song ever written. The lyrics are great, and the way that the bridge flows back into the verse so well is almost unreal. Look around to try and find some analyses of it. It's gold.

2. Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers: A song that everyone knows, but can usually not recognize it by it's name alone. I think it was voted upon as the best love song at some point.

3. Something - Beatles: Written by George, it creates a great mood, and solid Abbey Road production values.

I am convinced without a doubt that "I Finally Found Someone" by Bryan Adams (the theme song to the movie "The Mirror has Two Faces) is the best love song ever written for these reasons. First of all it was very well thought out and very well orchestrated. The message of the song "I finally......." suggests that someone actually invested the time and the effort to continue to look to find the one that was just perfect for them no matter what tragedies life tossed in thier path. Also it is a celebration of having finally found just the right person. When listening to the song you can just hear the excitment and the relief of a life long struggle and achievement to obtain the perfect mate and the oportunity to make the continuous effort to please someone you have every faith will make the same effort to please you.
