XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Common law married and legally married is two different things. You can live with six different woman in six different houses at the same time and you are considered a gigolo. If you had six marriages to six different women you'd go to jail. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Nope--it is legal. A common law marriage is not a legal marriage--it is only a benefit given to those who live together for a prolonged period of time to recognize them as families, and a lot of states do have that provision--but it is not a law. In fact, you can get married in the very state you live in. A lot of people live together for a long time before they tie the knot and it is all done legally in the very same state and city they live in. So don't worry, it is perfectly legal to get married anywhere...including your hometown.

Yes, but very few states have common law marriages. Most people just think they are in one.

A common law marriage is a LEGAL marriage. If you marry again without an annulment, or a divorce decree from a court, you are committing adultery and bigamy.

NO...I don't think it is. Common law is not a legalized thing. The state just knows that you have been together for 7 years or more. If you have joint accounts with the former...get that taken care of first and cancel you name off the accounts/bills, etc.

Common law marriage (shacking up) is 2 people who have been living together, for a certain period of time, theres no certificate, etc.......

not all states recognize common law marriage, I think...check with the courts and see who does and who doesn't, maybe it won't be an issue.

yes if the state you live in recognizes commom law marriages you may have to go to court to get your relationship dissolved.
