The other day while watching Dave Chappelle's (sp?) block Party I heard somthing that got me to thinking. there was a little part where Wyclef was telling a little kid to stop blaming Whitey, which made me wonder... Why do we blame Whitey?

It's really no excuse any more even though the stench of racism can still be picked up by the trained nostril. Yes, there are some who still do their very best to keep a lid on "minorities" taking hold of the ball, no matter what anyone says, but not nearly enough to keep the lid shut tight nor enough who even care to try. The world is ours all we have to do is stand up and take it.

We've blamed whitey for an entire century. The reason why is that there is a lot a disspelled truths about us black folk. You should read "Return To Glory" by Dr. Joel Freeman. It discuss how Black people were the first ones of civilization. Unfortunetely, white or otherwise foreign historians decided to make their own history- showcasing blacks as basically nothing but savages who hunt lions & wear bones in our noses. Why do you think the Phaoroah statue in Egypt is missing his nose? Napoleon blasted it off in spite during the war. Man, you gotta read that book- along with many other!!!

I stopped blaming whitey awhile back. There's nothing much you can do. It's like power in numbers, but our numbers fall quite short..... :(

Honestly, as "Whitey," I'd like to know that myself. I taught in the inner city for seven years before I ran for my sanity, so I've been trying to figure that out ever since. I think, maybe, it's because they're told to by those held in high esteem by the Blacks who use those who are poor to keep themselves in power and wealthy. Also, I think it's easier to blame someone else for your problems than to admit that your the reason otherwise you will have to either do something about it or admit that you are lazy. We all do that kind of thing. Unfortunately for many poor Blacks, it's part of the culture and because the world has become p.c., nobody tells the truth. Meanwhile, generation after generation are thrown away and society as a whole is deprived of their contributions.

I could never hurt or treat anyone else badly, I also can't change what my ancestors have done in the past. I treat people like I would like to be treated myself, We all can't be blamed for a few idiots mistakes, If you look at history The greedy and the power hungry will do anything to feed their fix, and that still applies today We can't help what others choose to do, all we can hope is that the human race wakes up to its self. We might all come from different countries but all our addresses are earth and we are one race called humans. my son in law is from Africa and I am white, as a matter of fact whites in the past have been just as cruel to my Ancestors as to his. And him or I don't go around bagging people for what their ancestors may have done to mine or his. If I make mistakes in my life I only have my self to blame.

It's much easier to blame whoever or whatever is handy instead of digging in and doing whatever it takes to make something of yourself, and all those connected with you proud.
Blame is always the easy way out. Whitey is always around, so whenever you fail because of not trying, it's whitie's fault.

*sigh* you have to look at the bigger picture hun. "whitey" is the reason the majority of african americans live in substandard housing and attend poor schools. had "whitey" really had the best interest of all americans at heart, he wouldn't have passed laws and legislations in the 50's, 60's and 70's stating that any minority, especially a black person, in a neighborhood will bring down the real estate costs. just this simple fact alone caused thousands of african americans to not be able to purchase homes, despite their home grants from the war, or any other monies they may have acquired. therefore, they were required to move into substandard living conditions, or "projects". w/that being said, most people send their children to college based on home equity loans. you cannot get a home equity loan if you live in an apartment; you have no equity. subsequently, many african americans of the 70's generation were unable to attend college, thus unable to recieve a higher paying job, thus leading them to continue to live in substandard housing, therefore pushing them back into the same cycle their parents went through. not every black kid is going to play in the nba and they surely aren't all destined to be a rapper.

there's ONE reason. your parents should whoop you. lol

Because there is still racism, wether you want to believe it or not. And it comes in all forms. Just a group of young black men walking into a store gets securitys attetion. Rasism is real and alive. People hide behind it and say "i have a black friend " or "i work with black people, and i'm not a racist" but it still exists to this day and it isnt going away.

Old habits die hard. But, when you call people whitey it doesn't help matters either. It is just as racist for you to call me whitey as it would be for me to call you names I wouldn't even type. What happened to the people of Africa, who were brought to this country against their will and treated like animals, is deplorable. But, to blame our generation is like blaming Noah for the flood because he built the ark.

I think you are overstating the truth that all black people blame white people for the overall advancement of black people in American society.

I have a friend, who is black, who put it in much better terms. He told me that in all issues, black people tend to think of the issue in racial terms first. He attributes that to a culture that once enslaved black people in this country and power structures that resisted their march towards equality and equal civil rights. He contends that this will continue as long as a significant number of blacks in America live as an underclass in our society.

I agree with him.

He also says that each generation of black people in this country have less right to point their fingers to a white power structure as the source of the problem than those that came before them. Instead, each generation has to take personal accountability for its own plight and instill values in black culture that are worthy of emulation.

Simple

Ignorance and the simplicity of it all. It's easier to blame the whites that blacks are doing drugs even though its the blacks selling it to each other.

Easier to blame whites for all the crime where blacks live even though there isnt a white person around for miles.

Easier to blame white for black poverty when the blacks are the ones hanging out on corners getting high instead of going to school.

Easy to blame all the whites that are out there in black communities helping with what they can instead of the rich blacks being on TV blaming the white people for making them rich.
