Probably know the answer to this but just making sure. If I decide to upgrade to a higher amp alternator in my '92 Mustang 5.0, is it absolutely necessary to rewire for it or am I asking for an engine fire?

Should not cause a problem, same wiring should be able to carry up to 130 amps.

one hundred amps is a lot if all your considerable home equipment are gas. I easily have a house like yours, gas warmth, warm water and range with one hundred A provider. I further electric powered warmth in 2 rooms, a house workplace with 2 computers, 2 freezers, 2 fridges, 2 microwave ovens, a pool and an electrically heated spa—potential to spare by way of fact they aren’t all on on the same time. changing to a 2 hundred-A panel skill changing the wires out of your place to the applying pole, a much extra high priced proposition than purely changing the panel, length no longer withstanding. the biggest potential customer in a house is warmth, observed, so as, by employing your warm water heater, range, clothing drier and A/C. till you're changing your furnace to electric powered, you will on no account want 2 hundred A.

ON ALL 1987 TO 1993 5.0S THE ALT- WIRE HARNESS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED TO THE NEW STYLE THAT WILL COME WITH THE NEW ALT BECAUSE THE OLD ONES DO TEND TO START ELECTRICAL - FIRES. IT IS NOT HARD AT ALL TO DO AND IT WILL PREVENT A LOT OF PROBLEMS
