What does it mean when your Active Desktop is enabled and how do you un-enable it? (I'm trying to instal TransText.)

it may be a viruse, or you need just to configure your system

Active desktop is the thing that allows you to have desktop themes and desktop backgrounds. Disabling that will not allow you to have any of that stuff. I have never seen a program requiring you to unenable active desktop before. Make sure that is a ligit program before you install it.

active desktop enables you to have things like webpages ongoing on your desktop.=big resource hog. to turn it off: rt click in the middle of the desktop, click properties, click on the desktop tab, click customize desktop, click on "web" uncheck "current home page" and you are done.

There should be no reason to disable the desktop...I wouldn't download if I was you.

You have a pop up blocker on. Turn it off
