Most whites will wash best in hot water ... if cotton, use some bleach to instructions...if permapress, omit the bleach and use hot/permapress cycle (cools down the water during the cycles.) You can use warm or cold rinses. Dry on high if cotton, permapress if poly, and remove immediately from dryer to avoid excessive wrinkles. Good luck
NEVER wash white wool in hot water...cold only with mild soap, and air fluff dry, or spread and block out to air dry. Never bleach wool, as it will yellow it.

Warm generally. Fabrics dictate temperature on whites.

The hottest water the fabric will stand. But it's important that you wash whites together, with no coloured stuff thrown in. Even pastels or neutral colours will make whites go dingy.

I was everything in cold water to cut down on energy costs. I use a little Clorox and Downy. My whites always come out white, soft, and fresh smelling.

Depends on whether it is cottons or wools, check the clothing labels washing instructions, but i tend to put my whites 40 degrees centigrade wash.
