Cuauhtémoc
Nephew of Montezuma II and final leader of the Aztec Empire. At the age of 25 he was elected to the post by a council of noblemen, during the Spanish conquest. He defied the white-skinned invaders with his oath to sacrifice to his gods all Christian converts in the Aztec lands.
He organized an Aztec resistance that succeeded in repulsing Spaniard forces from Tenochtitlan, until they were starved out. Cuauhtemoc was captured and drafted into the Spanish army, where he was later hung for treason, forever immortalizing him as a Mexican hero.

I am the most recent: just like water on this planet is the
same water from all-time - so, too, is the spirit of the Aztec
the same spirit for all-time.
