Because the creators could probably use sock puppets for the characters and still grosse a ton of money from the nerds who love the video game portrayed in the movie.

Easy. Because movies generally work best with a particular type of plot tension and resolution, that videogames simply don't bother to incorporate. First person shooters and fighting games, especially, don't have the character development or plot complexity necessary to sustain interest in a full length feature film.

Unless you get the movie animated. The people that are doing the movie cast the wrong people and then don't have a real feel for the game to make the transition to film.
Its the same with a good book, you are at some Hollywood moron's perception and budget constraints.

Most are nothing like the video game. Adding characters that don't really fit in or having a plot that doesn't seem right.

Because video games do not have plot or character development. If you add those things and don't do it well, then the movie will not reach the enjoyment level of the video game.

Simple. Video games are interactive and (some) have a storyline you can go through, whereas movies are not interactive and force you to go through a set of events you may not have done. The solution? Interactive movies, like choose your own adventure - with guns to shoot stuff on the screen Or whatever...

Not all of video games suck. Cars was pretty good on PS2. It made a story line about what happened after the movie- and you get to win the coveted Piston Cup!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!! Lilo and Stitch was pretty good too (on D.S.). I'm currently stuck though...

Well, Halo will be produced by Peter Jackson and WETA will be doing the special effects .... one can only hope


OH YEAH, and Final Fantasy IIV Advent Children did not suck!!

The only one that was ok was silent hill...all the others sucked...resident evil had nothing to do with the videogame storyline..
