in case of air turbulance. if they bonked their little yellow heads, and were unconscious, then they couldn't complete their mission of killing americans.

eastern kamikaze pilots wore helmets before each and every thing because their planes were not the finest airplane to fly at extreme altitudes in because they enable an excellent style of chilly air in and secondly because their radio headsets were interior the helmets. without those they doesn't were able to save in formation.

Oh, that is just a funny question. Just picture it! It must have been to hold there head on because if you can imagine, they must have been out of there mind to do it in the first place.
The answer really must be turbulence. Let's say they had to eject as early as take off to live to complete there mission.

There was still the trip to consider. If you hit turbulance on the way and bump your head... get it?
Also the target might already be destroyed before you arrive, therefore needing a return trip to get debriefed and try another target.

So they looked cool just before they were either shot out of the sky or crash landed. And just for info. They only had enough petrol to get to their objective. That way they couldnt chicken out. Since you are out of gas and gonna die anyway might as well try to take a few of your enemy with you.

In case they were hit and to deflect shrapnel. They needed to MAKE IT TO THE TARGET SHIPS or their jobs were useless. So they needed to hang onto life as long as possible or until it was apparent there was no more hope.
