I have to read this book with my students every year (I am going into my 9th year of teching now), so I have read this book way too many times. :-) The book is definitely better. The book has so many details that were not in the movie. There is no way the producers can take everything from a novel and make a 2 hour movie out of it. They always have to leave some things out. So, the book is more informative.

The book, though the movie version is pretty good. Had some good casting. Francis Ford Coppola actually chose to direct that movie after polling a group of students. But you will find in most cases, even if the movie is good, the book will have the edge.

The book is better for sure. But I like that with a movie we can see what the characters look like.

Read the book first, then watch the movie. The book is better, in my opinion.

Wow, I read this book in grade 8 so you must be young. The book is always better than the movie, kid. How can they cram all the details into two hours?
