Basil Fawlty.
Hands down funniest comedy character of all time. And if you haven't seen Fawlty Towers, then there is no way I can possibly come close to explaining why. You just have to watch John Cleese as Basil in action.

Jackie Gleason's "Poor Soul." It was hilarious because it dealt with mundane every day incidents that occur in our lives and embarrass us to death. The Poor Soul, however, is so numb, he doesn't even realize he is being a buffoon. Loved all of Gleason's characters!!
how!!
