Your turtle sounds like it is suffering from a deficiency in its diet... the commercially available pellets for turtles are good..but you should also feed live fish... minnows..or goldfish depending on the size of your turtles. If its not too late.. ( and it might be at this stage).. remove him from the tank..( make sure your water is clean..) ( use drops for fish tanks that remove chlorine and chloramine). and keep him warm in an isolation tank..... low water levels...just enough to keep him wet...but so that he does not have to struggle to keep afloat. Get some vitamen drops specially formulated for turtles...and give him some orally. If you notice an improvement with warmth ( don't cook him ) and vitamens.... then you 'll know this was the problem... the solution is to add things to his diet that he would normally eat in the wild..

I feed mine earthworms.. diced apples.. goldfish.. minnows.. and any leftover frozen shrimp from shrimp platters.. ( they LOVE this ). I have six of them.. and mine are as big as dinner plates. Two of them are over 25 years old.

good luck.... i'll be hoping for a full recovery.

Red-eared sliders are marine reptiles, who can float or submerge without the aid of appendages. Just by breathing and keeping balance, your turtle could float forever. What's stranger to see than a floating red-eared, is one sleeping at the bottom of the tank, which is totally common, too. It's only made stranger by their translucent inner eye-lids.

The turtles are aquatic turtles,so he/ she might desire to pass decrease than water alot. I easily have 2 RES and that all of them stay underwater many of the time. SO sure hes meant to sink and swim around. appropriate of luck on your turtle

Big Me gave you the correct answer. i will add however that you may want to be careful how much you feed them, as this is most likely not the issue here, you can overfeed them into bloating. You will notice alot more waste if this is the case.

Never feed your turtle goldfish. Since you have a RES I will refer you to a RES site.
