I've never travelled outside the US before. I'd like to go to Russia as a tourist for a few weeks. Where and how would I get a Visa? Where and how would i get a passport? Is there anything else I'd need? Any personal stories about tourist travel to Russia would be appreciated too.

To get a passport, visit:

http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

Allow for at least 6 weeks to be safe (unless you request the expedited service)

For visa assistance, visit: www.zvs.com

They provide very professional service and you will get your visa fairly quickly.

At the airport, bring your passport (with visa) and a phote ID (a driver's license is good)

Good luck.

You need to start with the US State Department (web site below). We were just in Russia froma cruise ship and things were very strict. You will need a Visa for Russia. The State Dept can steer you to the right place to get a visa.

You will need a US Passport and then have to apply for a Visa.

Go to your local post office and ask them. They have all the passport information and they can tell you who you need to contact for the rest and how to do it.
