What are the official rules?

Well I've seen two ways of playing marbles. One way is like shooting pool. You have to flick your marbles into a hole before the other kid finishes. The winner keeps all the marbles - in a way it is a form of gambling, like those pog things were.

The other way, is draw a circle, put all the marbles in the circle scattered around a bit, then each person keeps one marble to use to try to hit the other marbles out of the circle. Whoever finishes first, again keeps all the marbles.

That's about all I know.

The answer above is pretty durn close if not perfect. The second thing mentioned (abt the circle) is how I used to play. The marble that we used as a shooter was called the Aggie and was abt 2 or 3 times bigger than the other marbles. You never lost your Aggie if you could help it.
