36 hours with my first child, 26 hours with my second child.

first child:started pitocin at just before 9a.m. delivered at 10:51p.m. the following night

second child:started pitocin at 3p.m, was given cytotec at about 9a.m. the following morning, gave birth at 5:02p.m.

NEVER let them give you cytotec. It's the same pill used in abortions. I nearly lost my daughter because of this. Please remember this when you get induced.

I was scheduled to be induced (a week past my due date) and when I got to the hospital, I was already 3 cm dilated. They didn't give me the drug that they use to start contractions...they just broke my water since I was already dilated. I understand that a good number of women (sorry, I don't have a specific percentage!) who are induced with drugs end up having c-sections.

In my case, my water was broken at 8:30 p.m., and my son was born at 1:15 a.m. I pushed for 30 minutes. I dilated very slowly until I had my epidural. Once I got it, my body relaxed and I wasn't fighting the contractions anymore. I was 5 cm dilated when I got my epidural. I dilated the other 5 cm in about an hour and a half, and, like I said, pushed for 30 minutes.

It really depends on the woman. I don't think there's a "normal". It also depends where you are when you are first induced (are you dilated at all, at 1 cm...?). One of my friends had her first child within about six hours after she was induced (and only had to push for about 30 min.). For other women I've known, it's taken much longer. The pitocin can be increased to a certain extent if it's determined that you're not making progress.

There is not even an aproximate time, every woman is different, I spent 18 after the induction and had to have a c-section, my friends had their babies within the next 4 hours and my neighbor had to wait 10 hours, so, you will have to wait and see, wish you good luck and just go with the flow, you can't decide when the baby will come out, so better relax and enjoy the ride.

Usually within a few hours, though there are always exceptions.
I was induced after my water broke naturally, but 9 hours later, I wasn't dialating much.
I was given the pitocin around 7:30 am, and my daughter was born at 11 am after only 20 minutes of pushing! It was wonderful, I wish you lots of luck!

I went in at 5:00 am, started the petocin (sp??) at about 6 and was done before 3 pm. I pushed for about an hour and a half. I am a first time mom. It wasn't bad at all. I remember how nervous I was, but I can honestly say I had a wonderful experience! Good luck:)

It depends sometime as long as 24 hours. Some women have horror stories of being induced because they never dilate to 10, have to go through all that pain, and end up having a c-section. My doctor didn't want to induce me because of that possibility. I ended up having a c-section due to low amniotic fluid.

I don;t want to scare you, but, if you are like me when Iwas pregnant i always wanted the truth, I was induced with gel twice and then the drip and I was in labour for a total of 55 hours. I recomend the ephideral. I ended up with a c section.

After I was induced I was in heavy labor for 20 hours before they decided the baby was too big and I needed a c-section. Good luck. It is all worth it :)

Get one of those large balls that is used in aerobics. Sit on the ball, bounce lightly, and rock back and forth. That will help the fetus to descend further down the pelvis. Also, have sex. It is not the act of sex that induces labor but the sperm. The drugs that are used to induce labor are known as protaglandins. (Think prostate). Same hormones in the prostaglandins as in the semen.
