this isn't really a question about astronomy, but the age of earth is about 4 500 000 000 years. if one meter represents 4 500 000 000 years then 400 000 000 years is 4/45 of a meter. that is about 8.8 centi-meters. humans have existed for only about 600 000 years. 600 000 years 0.00006/45 of a meter. that is about 1.33 micro-meters.

The science indicates that the Earth is roughly 4 billion years old. 400 million is 1/10 of 4 billion. The answer is approximately 1 decameter or 10 centimeters or 100 millimeters. 3 million is roughly 1/10 of 400 million. The corresponding length would be around 1 centimeter for your question pertaining to humanity.

Since Earth is 5 billion years old. 400 million years would be 8cm long. Humans have been here for 125 000 years, that's 0.025 mm! And since life moved onto the land, that's pretty much 1 billion years ago. So that's 20 cm.

Assuming the Earth is about 5 billion years old, the 400 million years would be 8 centimeters. One million years would be .02 centimeters. 1/5 of one millimeter.

another form that I learned in college was that if the history of the Earth where represented by the span of your arms you hand would represent life on Earth while the very tip of the fingernail of your middle finger would represent the span of history for modern man.
