Being a father of a teenage daughter, I can tell you why. We as fathers feel it is our responsibility to protect our baby girls; we have to be that proverbial "knight in shining armor", who serves to shield our baby from the evils of the world. Secondly, we were there the day you took your first breath; we only have you there for 18 years before you go off on your own, or God forbid you get married at a young age; you are the "apple of our eye."

You, as a daughter... tend to look at your father as being an ogre that barks orders and is a basic hard a**; my daughter does the same thing.....Keep your head up, you will, hopefully, understand that we mean well and that we truly love you enough to take the abuse that comes with it.

Daughters are a gift from God; and being so, we as fathers will protect you at all cost.....you as a daughter should understand that it is not you that we really worry about....it is the rest of the world that can possibly take you away from us or harm us that we are worried about.

Give your dad a big hug and tell him that you love him....he will appreciate that.

Here are songs that I want you to listen to; they might give you a little insight into what your dad is thinking:

Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle

Here are some songs that we as fathers are trying to avoid:

Living Years - Mike and the Mechanics

Cats and the Cradle - Harry Chapin

Baby Blue - George Strait

Dads are guys, and as a guy they know the hell they have put countless women through over the years, so they try to prepare their own daughter for that.

**** ,my dad had three and he was hard on all of us but I believe he was alot harder on me but now that I'm older I thank God for it because I turned out alot better than my other siblings. You don't realize those things though until you get older and have children of your own.

Because in his eyes, you are forever his "little girl" and he only wants the best for you. It hurts him to see you make mistakes, and he wants to "save" you. Be grateful... My dad abandoned me and my sister. We were 2 and 4 years old. I wish he had done anything at all for/with us......
