A good example would be a T-moble store will only sell stuff for TMOBLE and the people there are employees of TMOBLIE. If Radio Shack offered T-Mobile phones and plans they would be an Authorized dealer. Usually Auth. dealers sell more than just one cell provider. I would think that the plans are the same in most cases. But I love T-Mobile, they have great customer service too.

An official store is a store owned by a company. An authorized dealer is just that--a store that is given permission to sell TMobile products. I assume that the authorized dealers get a commission.
As far as plans go I am unsure. Although you are better off with the official store as they have a vested interest in retaining you as a customer and are less focused on a commission. Plus, I have Verizon, and I've noticed that company stores carry better, newer phones.

You can go to any mobile phone retailer and buy a t-mobile pay as you go phone or an unlocked sims-free phone and just put ur card in! If they do ask u to sign anything there is something wrong but at the end of the day if ur under 18 the law states that you can't enter into any legal contract, so if u accidentally sign urself up for a lifetime contract or something it can't be legally binding because of ur age! Just explain to the sales people that you have the sims card and just need the phone and they will be able to sort at all out for u!

An official store has employees that live and breathe the company's products. An authorized dealer is part of another store (Best Buy) that is authorized to sell their products and dozens of other company's stuff.
I have a Verizon phone and I only go to the official stores for service. I went to Best Buy when my phone got no signal anywhere. The kid working the counter looked at it for about 10 seconds and said it was dead. He offered to sell me another. I declined. I went to a Verizon store, they said the phone was defective, still under warranty, and would replace my phone for free.
The moral, official stores have SUPERIOR service compared to authorized dealers.

Just to piggy back of off everyone else's answers...watch out for payment charges. At some "authorized locations" they charge an additional fee for paying your bill. If you go through an actual store, you don't have to pay extra.
-the plans are usually the same, but the phones are usually better at the actual store.
- did you know you can also sign up for plans on line?
