I'm really worried about the people that live in the U.S. with me... I wish we had more concern for the country. And yes, sometimes a debate can be boring, but if you are concerned about the subject matter, it may not be that boring.

Debate isn't supposed to be boring. Throughout our country's history, there was lively, entertaining, thought-provoking debate.

I fault the media for making real debate impossible nowadays. The press is always hovering like vulture, looking for a candidate to make one unfortunate comment. One tiny slip-up can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

Because of the lack of restraint or balanced reporting, the press has created conditions in which debate is condemned to be more tedious than watching paint dry.

The Bush-Clinton debates highlighted how debate had degenerated. The dumbed-down debates were held at a 7th grade level (in terms of vocabulary used), and each candidate couldn't possibly have spoken in a more bland middle-of-the-road manner. It was obvious that the number one priority for each candidate was to avoid saying something the MTV sound bite generation could latch on to and scuttle their bid at the presidency.

If I lived back then, then spending all day watching people being killed would be standard fare. However, if I went back there today, being a more advanced human being, I'd pass on the suffering and go listen to a boring debate.

Today I watch LOST and the news, both liberal and conservative.
