I am moving to Toronto, Ontario (Canada) in January...
-can you recommend some good websites for finding a place to live in Toronto?
-I may be interested in finding a shared house; any particular recommendations?
-ALSO, is there a site that rates places/apts/landlords?

Welcome to Canada. I believe you have chosen a great city to live. Finding a place isn't difficult since you've already known the kind of accommodation you are looking for. A shared house or a bachelor apartment would be good if you are a student or a single person. Also make sure you know the kind of people you will be sharing with. It's difficult for me to say which are the ideal areas in Toronto. Since Toronto is such a big city. Price wise varies. A decent unit will run from about $800.00 one bedroom. Well you're willing to share so roughly a 2bdr can range from $1000.00 plus. My friend is currently paying $1025.00 including parking. If the rent is too cheap, believe me it's nothing but a roach infested suite. I heard people say living by the lake is a beautiful sight. Again it depends on your personality. If you like to be in the fast lane at all times, then anywhere along yonge street would be an ideal setting. Anyhow, try typing "renter's news, Toronto in the search box. I believe this could get you started. Have fun and good luck. And again, a big welcome!

The final step is reaching that place first and look for it later.
