And I know alot about soccer.
And I was actually around for several world cup matches and have seem Ronaldo play! Don't think his hot either!
I think RONALDO is a much better player maybe Rooney will get there someday but not as of now! Seem some of his games whre he plays for MU but don't really think he compares to Ronaldo!
And Ronaldo isn't a SORE LOSER!
Ronaldo know how to keep his cool and be a prodessional ROONEY can learn a thing or two!

I hadn't seen either play until World Cup - sorry, not like the US is real big on showing European soccer any other time than World Cup. Anyway, I didn't get to see Rooney play that much because he wasn't in the last game that long before being red carded. Ronaldo appears to be a good player with lots of room to improve in the years to come. Both seem equally immature and I'm not trying to be ugly here - Rooney's hot temper and Ronaldo's whinning. I'm just wondering how any team could afford to support two players that are such loose cannons.

As their club manager, Alex Ferguson knows them better than any of us here and chooses Rooney over Ronaldo every single match. The whole Man U team is built around Rooney and what he can do, whereas Ronaldo is a much more peripheral figure who only plays two out of three matches and is there to support the first name on the Utd team sheet.
Not a Utd fan, by the way.

You should be comparing the Brazilian Ronaldo to Rooney because at least they play a similiar role on their team...but i don't think you are since you mention looks...so it's Christiano (i think i spelled that wrong)...
They are both very unsportsmanlike players, with bad attitudes. I'm still undecided on whether Rooney meant that kick or not...some say the card was for pushing C.Ronaldo anyway...which doesn't make sense...
As for C.Ronaldo my god he's one of the worst for diving all over the field. He's also petulant and looks very spoiled.
Having said all this they are both very skilled and have incredible potential, they both made some excellent plays in the tournament. However, unless their mental game improves both can be liabilities to their team.
As for who is better...Rooney is all about power, pace and an incredible shot, whereas C.Ronaldo is about finesse, with unbelieveable movement with the ball, he also has fast feet and some of the best tricks with the ball. Rooney is a real striker though, while C.Ronaldo is an attacking midfielder/winger (most of the time).
I don't think i'd choose either of them for my team though!
Ok, if i had to choose...i'd give the edge to Rooney, especially if he could control his emotions!

Rooney is easily better than Ronaldo. Strength, pace, skill and aggression combined with a passion for the game that ronaldo will never have. Plus Ronaldo dives, and I havent seen Rooney doing that.

Rooney, one Ronaldo is a full blown idiot and the other is next door to being an idiot.
Rooney is a professional player who is serious about his football. He has a temper (that was not a display of it against Portugal, just an unfortunate accident) but is still very young and should learn better control in time.

Brazilian ronaldo is a legend compared to all the players in the world except zidane. c ronaldo got skill and a good player. Rooney is ugly but he is probably the greatest English player of all time if he play good in international games but he is a disgrace in the world cup and he need to be less aggressive to every match. I can't say who is the better player but I will say that Cristiano Ronaldo played better than Rooney throughout the tournament. Especially in the match against France, despite the booing, he played exceptionally and was a huge threat to France.

Ronaldo is an artist, he can makes great chances to his mates, and rooney is a good chances "hunter" and a strong player too, so MAN Udt is very lucky with these players, but honestly, I prefer Ronaldo, because he is not a selfish..........

Well, Ronaldo does have the new record for goals scored in the World Cup, and he is more important to his team than Rooney.
