Given I don't know in which city you reside, I can't say for certain exactly what will take place. However, I'll provide the info as it pertains to my locale as it is the general rule of thumb in most cases. Still, I recommend you check with your Landlord and Tenant Association or the Tenant Review Board in your area for specific recommendations/information.
As you presently reside in the unit in which you've been renting prior to the City's purchase, you should be given 90 days notice, 60 days minimum, that the city expects you to evict.
Unless the city is planning to tear down the unit(s) and replace with other buildings, you have the right to stay where you are and if you just entered into a renewed lease with the previous owner, this lease is effective until expiry a year later (or whatever the length of lease renewal you've been under, i.e. 1 yr, 2 yr etc)
The rent amount cannot increase during this period either. The only way in which you must vacate the premises now is if the previous owner gave you the option to purchase the unit and you waived that opportunity and the previous landlord then provided you with notice of termination of your lease. Again however, the anniversary of your leases end has to be reached before you need to leave, unless your previous landlord gave you a letter of intent to sell with requirements for you to vacate...90 days from the date of that notice.
Contact the city and ask your specific questions...but I would think that you are able to remain where you are until the lease comes up for renewal again unless there are extenuating circumstances that the city can provide you with. If the previous landlord didn't give you any notice to move, the city must give you ample time to locate new residence if they expect you to move.
Hope this helps...good luck

If you have a lease, you should be allowed to remain for the duration of the lease. The city could take the lease via eminent domain and require you to move if they want to use it for other purposes. You'll have to ask the city officials what is going to happen to tenants. If the city intends to continue operating the property as rental property, it's entirely possible that it will have no effect on you at all.

They will atleast give you a 30 day eviction notice. But that has to be delivered to you. Obviously if they bought the land they intend to do something other than have tenet houses on it.
I would save yourself the trouble and start looking for a new place to go now. I highly doubt they will help you find a place, or provide any kind of assistance.

Whatever makes you think you wouldn't still pay rent? Why don't you calm down and wait to receive a notice like everybody else? Maybe the city isn't going to do a darn thing with your building.

Get yourself a good lawyer and sue the city and your landlord. You'll end up with a lot more than you would if you just accept their offer.

Yes, you'l always have to pay rent, one way or another.
Better start looking now. And, no the city won't help you. They don't have to; so why should they.

It depends. They could condem the property and you'd have to move out immediately. Sometimes they give you moving money, but don't count on it.
