Needing to know how to start off a persuasive speech. I am doing it on being an organ donor. I want to persuade them to become an organ donor.

Start with a moving story. Like, 'Sarah was just 18 when she was hit by a car and put into a coma.....'
or, 'Tom was just 6 when his kidneys stopped working...'
and explain it from a personal point of view. Explain the dilemmas that their parents faced, and the different outcomes there could have been.

Cici - You asked the right person, a librarian! If you don't have one at your school you can talk to, I will try to fill that role. If you have paid online databases you can access from home, using "Issues and Controversies" and "Opposing Viewpoints" are the best starting off points. That is because they have sample essays for you to see what points they make.
If you do dont have a library card, the Online Writing Lab at Purdue Univ (quoted below) is a GREAT site for you to peruse.

ladies gentlemen and future donors lend me your organs, so many people are in need of life giving transplants nowdays, be the one to make a difference in a child or a parents life! one given after your life force is gone is one life given by you and for those whom may even be those you love!

Just start writing. Maybe it would be good to start of with saying how many people have been saved by a donated organ?

some really good ways to get people into an essay is to hook them with a story, or a question. Put them into the situation and maybe they'll be more inclined to agree with you.
