check the power to the cdrom, if the power cable is loose, then tighten it and check again.
if that one does not work fine, then the problem might be in the cable. replace the ide cable and see if that works,
if not, get a new cdrom .. replace the old one..
if that one works fine. then your old cdrom was blown.
if the new cd rom also does not work then probably there is something wrong with ur motherboard.
take it to a pro.

This means that either the power connector to the drive has become disconnected or that the drive has died.
I had the same thing happen to the CD-ROM drive on one of my Dell machines. It suddenly just stopped working at all. I checked and found that it was still connected to the power supply. I even used a different power lead to make sure the original one wasn't faulty. Still nothing.
After that, I took the drive out and replaced it with a different drive. The replacement drive worked fine.
Good luck!

If you are not seeing your CD rom drive that means it is not connected properly or not connected at all or you have a faulty cable or the drive is no good.

Unplug your machine, take the cover off, unplug and replug the cable. Reseat the cdrom as well.
Or it may be dead.
