Some people think that, with enough development, a computer could develop true intelligence, and many are confident that nano-robots could be created that could self-replicate, doing all kinds of nice jobs for mankind's benefit. Could this optimistic vision be reversed into a horror story?

I think you could do this without making the computer highly inteligent. An example of this is a plan NASSA had plans to send a robot machine to mars... solar powered... that would mine raw materials and smelt them, making more of them selves, but also building shelters, eventually fit for human inhabitants. In a project like this there's not really much scope for a computer to go crazy and start killing people, unless it detected humans as being like ore, and tried to mine them. (interesting thought though)

Nano-bots would have to be more intelegent though I guess, because they need to operate more independantly with larger numbers.

is this a question or a proselytizing fact? the answer: It relies upon on the moves of each and every man or woman. those who're based on self have a tendency to be extra indignant and uncaring. those who're based on others are extra empathetic and information. As Christians we are said as upon to love God and others... to placed them first. it really is contained in the giving that we get carry of.
