You have to shock the pool with chlorine, and you should do this once a week. You also have to keep your PH neutral (ideal for a pool 7.4 - 7.6 ) and alkalinity should be 80 - 120 ppm use a test strip.

Your last sentence answered your own question - "...after we haven't been in the pool in a couple of days." Chlorine, PH, ash, Bromine, etc. can all balance, but without rotation and movement of both chemicals and bacteria algae will form.

Circulation
Filtration
Proper water chemistry
One or more of the above. Test the water and adjust accordingly. Run the pump long enough to turn the pool water over at least twice daily.

Filtration...plain and simple, if it isn't clean it's not cleaning or circulating the water properly. You have to maintain a balance of 3.0 chlorine and 7.4-7.6 Ph. If not...algae. Brush it and get the slime off then it gets exposed to chlorine.

Salt platforms creates chlorine through the salt. possibilities are intense you putting wasnt intense adequate or your salt aspect replaced into low. it would also be an somewhat grimy filter out. you pick to wonder the pool and brush. ensure you filter out is sparkling and enable the equipment run until eventually the water clears. Then turn you salt equipment as a lot as a larger putting. verify your pH and ensure it continues to be round 7.4.

put algeside in it. it is very cheap and keeps the green away. you should be using it anyway. You shouldnt have to use shock if you use. mine never gets green.
