I think it depends which epidose you watch. Based on that episode where they were campaigning and Marge supported one candidate and Homer supported Burns, Burns was a republican and Marge's candidate was supposed to be a Democrat. Based on that Homer is a republican. But there have been other episodes where he's been blatantly democrat.

Unable to separate myth from reality or think critically, he is left to operate on emotions and brain stem functions. This has led some to postulate that he is, in fact, a Stemocrat; utilizing only brain stem functionality.

He is ignorant, lazy, an alcoholic, knows nothing of other cultures, cheats the government any way he can, so he must be a Republican, although he seems way too cool to be one, he probably just votes for the guy that promises to lower taxes.

he seems to be one of those swing independents that can be very republican or democrat, depending on how the wind is blowing... the people that voted for Clinton and Bush...
