i was born in another country and half of my life i have been living here.. the 4th of July is IMPORTANT in my personal life because it represents the essence and spirit of being AMERICA. our founding fathers created something new at that time ... a Nation not created under other influences of the old World but out courage... honor... and faith. I believe America is a nation of so many possibilities and virtues..a nation that can create its future and be on its feet when it falls.... learn from its mistakes and lead the people to a true new millennium into the unknown.. WE Americans are the ones to Boldly go where others do not....be it be in the realm of words, ideas, or places yet never forgetting where we came from and who we are.

I think as I get older, the 4th of July has a stronger meaning . It use to be about fireworks, cookouts, but really, what were we really celebrating? Now with the war going on and the world full of violence, I feel this day is very special to me, It represents freedom, it makes me love my country more now than ever before and it makes me understand what our ancestors had to sacrifice to make our country as strong as it is.

I think gg said it best. On that day in 1776 when the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence...can you IMAGINE their pride and happiness? What would they think of us today?

It's my country's birthday, and it may sound corny, but I still get emotional when they play "The Star Spangled Banner".

A time to remember my father and uncle, both who were aviators shot down during WW2,,,the rockets red glare, and bombs bursting in air always make me both profoundly proud and sad.
