Normally it means that someone is not happy and want to step outside the commitment and do other things. Think about it how can you take a break from your relationship when you are suppose to be a growing relationship. People just use that term to get around saying what they really mean. In other words they are not man or woman enough to tell you how they really feel.

It's giving each other a chance to reassess the relationship. Will absence make the heart grow fonder or bring a sense of peace. It doesn't have to mean no talking, just no commitment. It's a way of determining if it's really right for you. It can be especially important when the relationship started when young. People should take the time to know different people so they can make a wise choice, not the only choice you're aware of.

Sorry hun but it pretty much means the relationship is over, it's mostly just used to buy time to not hurt your feelings, but in the end dragging things out just makes it even worse. If two people in a relationship were doing great together and were meant to be, they wouldn't need a break, because seeing other people would just ruin a great relationship. So just do yourself a favor and cut your losses now.

Taking a break basically means no communication on a trial basis (usually a set time) to work on things and see if the relationship isworth all the trouble.

Taking a break from the relationship is like a soft/easy let down.. meaning you're breaking up.. if not, it's definetly possible in the near future (bummer)

Peeps usually say it when they're evaluating whether or not they wanna be wit you. They wanna be given the chance to date other peeps. Not sure how long it USUALLY lasts but it more than likely means that the rel will end... soon. If this has happened to you, don't be too disappointed if the person decides to break the rel w/ you.

If there is a problem, not talking will not help. But usually, this means that one of the persons is being too clingy and posessive.

I think its a time for you to sit back and reflect...there is obviously a problem if you need time out from your relationship....you obviously need some time to yourself so enjoy it. Meet up with mates, do something contructive and just enjoy some 'you' time.....Trent
